Long Memory begins with the family heirloom tiger painting that has been part of my family since at least 1969. The tiger is transformed into a restrained modernist oil painting built from elongated forms, simplified anatomy, dark linear accents, and broad fields of muted color. Ochre, burnt orange, slate blue, dusty mauve, olive, and brown create a quiet geometric environment around the figure. The body becomes almost architectural, rising vertically through the composition, while the original tail and seated stance anchor the tiger firmly to the lower portion of the painting.
