Between Sun and Moon begins with the family heirloom tiger painting that has been part of my family since at least 1969. The tiger is transformed into a geometric watercolor painting built from softly irregular blocks of ochre, muted green, dusty rose, blue gray, brown, and parchment tones. Fine dark lines reconstruct the animal within the patchwork field, while a sun, crescent moon, stars, ladder, small house, arrow, and chalice-like symbol appear around it like fragments of an invented visual language. The original seated pose and looping tail remain recognizable even as the tiger becomes integrated into the surrounding geometry.
