Rocky Mountain Gothic: Late 1970s Album Promotion Graphics translates the visual identity of the Plated Jams single into the display language of the record shop and the stereo showroom. The design draws on hi-fi component advertising, FM radio promotion and the in-store displays that independent record shops hung above their bins at the close of the 1970s. A massive speaker cone anchors the upper right, its dust cap spiraling like a record label, while a waveform, stacked equalizer bars, backlit VU meters marked L and R, and an illuminated tuning dial fill the lower half. Aged cream lettering and weathered slab type carry the title with the force of a marquee, and a palette of midnight navy, amber gold and burnt orange holds the piece to the warm, analog character of period printing.
